${ \to{ \sf{ {17}^{2} = {8}^{2} + {x}^{2} }}}$

${ \to{ \sf{289 = 64 + {x}^{2} }}}$

${ \to{ \sf{ {x}^{2} = 289 - 64 }}}$

${ \to{ \sf{ {x}^{2} = 225 }}}$

${ \to{ \sf{x = \sqrt{225} }}}$

${ \to{ \sf{x = 15}}}$

Therefore the length of third side is 15 cm
