Answer:

You can get your answer from this short paragraph .

Explanation:

A magnet has two ends called poles, one of which is called a north pole or north-seeking pole, while the other is called a south pole or south-seeking pole. The north pole of one magnet attracts the south pole of a second magnet, while the north pole of one magnet repels the other magnet's north pole.

Answer:

1) Magnes, A Shepherd discovered magnet.

2) Magnet was discovered in Greece.

3) Magnetite was discovered around 800 B.C.

4) Magnetite is now called Magnet.

5) Materials which get attracted by the magnet are called magnetic materials substances.

6)  Materials which do not get attracted by the magnet are called magnetic materials substances.

7) Lodestone.

8) Lodestone is a type of iron and It has the properties of magnet.

9) Soft magnetic material are the Soft iron which loses its magnetism easily. Soft iron is used in making electromagnets.

Steel is called a ‘hard’ magnetic material because it does not lose its magnetism so easily. It is used to make permanent magnets.

10) It is the tip of the magnet which faces towards the north.

11) It is the tip of the magnet which faces towards the south.

12) Bar magnet always points in north-south directions because earth itself is like a magnet and north-pole of bar magnet is attracted towards south-pole of earth’s magnet.

13) Circular magnet also has two poles. Its exterior and interior parts act like different poles.  To find out the nature of the two poles, we suspend circular magnet with a piece of thread. We bring another magnet near it. Both attract each other.

14) Shipmen find the direction when north pointing pole star is not visible, They find the direction by using a Compass.

15) (MRI) is a medical technique which uses the magnetic field inside the body for taking images of different parts of the body.

Magnets : A substance which attracts iron is called Magnet.

Two types of magnet:

  • Natural magnet - Magnets which are made up of Magnetite. And found in nature.
  • Artificial magnet - Magnets which are prepared using various processes and with the help of iron are called Artificial magnet

Types of Artificial magnet :

  • Bar magnet
  • Horse shoe magnet
  • Cylindrical magnet

What are magnetic materials?

  • Materials which attract magnet is called magnetic material.
  • Eg. Nickel , Iron and cobalt.

What are Non-magnetic materials ?

  • Materials which do not attract magnet is called non-magnetic material.
  • Eg. Rubber, Cotton, Cloth, etc

No of poles in a magnet

2 Poles in a magnet

  • North pole
  • South pole
