Answer:

India had immense wealth in the past, quite certainly India would have remained a destination to invade by the Arabs. The Hindu kings of west had been repelling Arab invasions from seventh century AD. If it not had been Ghori establishing a Sultanate, someone else would have. Defeat of Prithviraj is taken as a shock because he had the stronger of the two forces. If not Prithviraj, some other king would be defeated in future by Arab invaders.

Medieval India’s major shifts in powers occurred when power was transferred from

Rajputs to Sultans

Sultans to Mughals

Mughals to Europeans

Lets assume that Prithviraj defeated Ghori in Second Battle of Tarain. Prithviraj(and a couple of succesors) being strong rulers strengthen the empire and die leaving it at its zenith. Rajputs had temper and egoistic issues therefore it is genuine to believe that the empire would ultimately split into smaller kingdoms fighting one another. If this broken state is achieved during the time of Genghis Khan, I might not be here writing this answer today. Before or After that point, probably a Sultanate would have been established any way. If the empire fall would coincide with the rise of Mughals then maybe Mughals would take Delhi from Hindu Rulers rather than Sultans.

It is possible to believe that a Local house might rise to power to Curb the rise of foreign empires in India. Potential Candidates are:

Sisodia Clan (Rajputs of Mewar)

Chauhans (They had some potent rulers in the form of Hammir Dev Chauhan who could have rebuilt an Empire)

Successors of Jaichand Rathod.

(Above are easy guesses, there are a lot of potential candidates)

In such a case may be Hindu rulers would have continued to rule till western colonization or even would have prevented Indian Colonization.

But All of it is imagination and of least concern except for the one sorry fact that we lost Nalanda University to these invasions. India would have been a different story if Nalanda would have survived these invasions.
