Would it be advisable to take antacids for longer period of time?

If you just need a few daily no problem, too many antacids risk developing kidney stones.

If having persistent problems, better have it checked out by your doc once. People having recurrent peptic ulcers have a chronic Helicobacter pylori infection of the stomach’s inner lining, and need a course consisting of two antibiotics, a strong acid inhibitor and bismuth to eradicate the bacteria so prevent recurrences.
