He was well-versed in Sanskrit, Arabic, and Persian and was well-read in religion, philosophy, science and literature. He was also a calligrapher and a rationalist who tried to resolve disputes through secular measures.
He undertook various experimental projects which, despite being innovative, failed since they lacked prudence.
