yes i agree drainage system in harappa cities indicate town planning

he drainage system in Harappan cities is the best example to indicate that how very planned the towns and cities were.

On the study of the drainage system, it has been found that –

• The drainages were laid out before the construction of houses and then the houses were built along with those drains.

• Every house was supposed to have at least one wall along the street which allowed the waste domestic water to flow out into the street drains.

• The lower town planning shows that the roads and streets were laid out in a grid pattern which intersected each other at right angles.

Answer:

Yes I agree that the drainage system in Harappan cities indicates town planning, because:

  1. if you look at the plan of lower town you will notice that roads and streets would laid out along an approximate"grid" pattern, intersecting at right angles.
  2. It seems that streets with drains were laid out first and then houses built along them.
  3. if domestic waste and water had to flow into the street drains, every house needed to have atleast one wall along a street.
