Explanation:

On pushing Locked door

We know that work = force× displacement

Here we can see how much we apply force IT does not move and hence displacement is zero and so work done is also zero.

On pushing Unlocked door

We know that work = force× displacement

Here we can see that we are able to move the door and hence apply force and cover displacement also.

Hence work is done in this case.

Required Information

  • Work is done only when object is moved
  • When there is no movement there is no displacement and hence work done will be zero.
  • Also in circular motion work done will be zero AS we are always perpendicular to the tangent.
  • Work= Force× Displacement
  • Unit of work is Joules or NewtonMetre.
