Answer:

want to be both — the blacksmith as well as the iron .

Want to be the blacksmith in respect of others .

And want to be iron in respect of myself .

In fact , during the last 45 years , this blacksmith tried to give shape to different pieces of iron in different places either by heating the iron himself or with the help of others , but the hammer remaining always in his hand , and applying it whenever the situation arose .

And in doing so , this blacksmith transformed himself into iron to make himself available for different roles according to the need of the hour .

Thus he educated himself single handedly without any family support and obtained the highest degree with good academic performance .

And this achieved while struggling to eke out a living for himself as well as the family .

In the professional arena , his hammer ironed out many differences .

Found solutions to many a problem, when people, who claim themselves to be professionally highly qualified, couldn't think of .

Brought some sort of transperency in working in all areas directly under the hammer of this blacksmith .

Worked in perfect harmony with everyone , forgetting the inter- personal differences in status , hierarchy etc .

Led from the front — always taking the lead role and inspiring others to follow .

Wasn't at all afraid in taking decisions - thus avoiding the blame of bypassing problems which are common among officials .

Raised issues not everyone thinks of — earned the blessings of higher ups .

Locked horns even with the high and powerful when the question of integrity and interest of the organisation came to the surface .

Didn't pay heed to the threatenings and warnings of the high officials when it was against the rule and principle and common sense judgement .

People dealing with this Smith was wary of their actions .

Some wanted to browbeat and even to harm physically ; but had to relent .

The organisation must have benifitted immensely , in monetary terms at least as this blacksmith was always ready with his hammer to iron out the the wrong doer . But who recognises ?

At the home front , the same hammer and melting of self saved some souls to lead a decent life ; here also the hammer had to apply itself in making some rogue iron straight .

Life is still a combination of the two .
