Answer:

Hari is responsible. He takes it upon himself to take care of the family at a very young age. He worries about the financial problems of the family, and tries to solve the problem.

He is also hard working. To feed the family, Hari works hard in the field. He was 'sweating in the sun as he bent and pulled and tugged and dug'. (pg 13) Besides that, he plucks coconuts to sell. He tries to catch some fishes, even though 'he knew he could not hope to catch much in his net along the shore' (pg.25)

Hari embraces change. In order to improve his family situation, Hari is willing to leave his home town, and go to Bombay. He has to adapt the new, harsh living conditions. In Bombay, he works and lives in Sri Krishna Eating House.
