Unit and measurement. The unit of measure of acceleration in the International System of Units (SI) is m/s2. However, to distinguish acceleration relative to free-fall from simple acceleration (rate of change of velocity), the unit g (or g) is often used.

here the value of G is the constant for universal law of gravitation hence it's unit is N m²/kg² and the g stands for the gravitational force which is counted as acceleration. hence it's unit is m/s² or km/h²
