Answer:The reaction between calcium oxide (CaO) and water (H2O) to form calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 is an exothermic combination reaction.

This is because: Calcium oxide reacts with water to form slaked lime Ca(OH)2 which means the oxides of calcium combine with molecules of free molecules of O- and H+

This reaction generates a lot of heat accompanied with hissing sound and thus is stated to be exothermic.
