Let x = 0.333... ---( 1 )

multiply both sides of equation ( 1 ) with 10,

we get

10x = 3.333....----( 2 )

subtract ( 1 ) from ( 2 ) , we get

9x = 3

x = 3/9

x = 1/3

Therefore ,

x = 0.333.... = 1/3 ( p/q form )

periodicity =1 so multiply both sides with 10
10x=3.333.....eqn (2)
now,
substitute eqn 2-eqn 1
10x=3.333-x=0.333
=9x=3
x=3/9
x=1/3
