Explanation:
This leaf, so complete in itself,
Is only part of the tree.
And this tree, so complete in itself,
Is only part of the forest.
And the forest runs down from the hill to the sea,
And the sea, so complete in itself,
Rests like a raindrop
In the hand of God.
- Ruskin Bond
God created each raindrop for a particular purpose. One drop may fall on a flower, one in the middle of a desert, and one might even turn into a snowflake and land on a child's tongue. Every person has a plan; God created each person for a particular purpose. One person may be a mother or father, one might sail around the world, and one just might grow up and become a teacher and influence the hundreds of little minds he/she teaches.
Raindrops can come in every shape and size and they can act very differently once they have let go of their mother cloud. Some raindrops are hard, violently pushing their way towards their goal. They have built up strength, repressed anger, emotions, fears, and left them bottled up for years. When they let go, they let go hard, falling faster and faster toward the ground. The only problem is that they don't enjoy the view on the way down. They are so busy concentrating on their ground objective that they don't bother to come in for a soft landing on a rose first; they head straight for the rocks. Other raindrops are tiny and trivial. Together they form a slight mist that just gets annoying if you are trying to do anything outside. They float along, not really accomplishing anything. These raindrops often go unnoticed; they are gone with one swipe of the windshield wipers. They never last long, and even if they do no one remembers, eventually they just fade away into the day. All the other raindrops fall somewhere in the middle; they are constant, faithful, and ever present. These raindrops fall slowly enough to enjoy the in-flight scenery yet they are focused enough so they don't get lost to confusion and wanderings. They get their job done yet there is something pure and rejuvenating about it. This rain is the one that replenishes; it provides nourishment and hope to them that need it most.
From scientific point of view :
Most of the usable water is derived from the 1.1 × 105 km3 that falls over the land surface each year as rain, snow, sleet or hail. The collective term for all of these sources of water is precipitation. At this point, you will consider the size of the drops of water that make up clouds or rain.
The typical distance across a water droplet in a cloud is one hundred-thousandth of a meter, that is, m or 0.000 01m. This corresponds to mm or 0.01 mm, which is very small. Imagine dividing the gap between adjacent millimeter marks on a ruler into 100 parts! Many of these droplets coalesce to give a raindrop that is about two-thousandths of a meter wide ( m, 0.002 m or 2 mm). Even these drops are small, but clearly they are water
WHAT SHAPE IS A RAINDROP?
A falling raindrop forms a slightly different shape as drag and air resistance exert pressure on the falling droplet. As the raindrop falls it forms a burger bun type shape with the flat base on the underside. Very different to the image people usually have of a raindrop falling.
