Calcination is done for carbonate ores

Whereas roasting is done for sulphide ores

Calcination is done in limited supply of oxygen

Rosting is done in presence of oxygen

For sulphide ores Rosting is done

I hope you guys will find it useful pls mark me as brainliest

roasting:

  1. this method is used for sulphide ores
  2. the ores are heated in the presence of oxygen

ex-ZnS + O2 gives rise to ZnO + SO2

calcination:

  1. this is used to extract minerals from their carbonate ores
  2. the ores are strongly heated in limited suppl or absence of oxygen
  3. ex-ZnCO3 when strongly heated in absence of oxygen gives rise to ZnO + CO2

Roasting is used for sulphide ores  so that oxygen gets added to form the corresponding oxide. It is done on sulphide ores in order to remove sulphur as sulphur gets escape in the form of gas
