it is extremely thin and long strain of glass coated with thin layer material having lower refractive index .Coating of strain is called cladding.Optical fibre work on the principle of tir.When light falls on one end of optical fibre it make an angle greater than the critical angle and suffer tir at each face.After traveling entire length it comes out from another end.
