reflection- 1. it is the phenomenon in which the light rebounds back after striking a shiny surface.
2. only smooth n shiney shiny surface can support reflection
3. usually metals show this property.
4. angle of reflection n angle of incidence Is same.

refraction- 1. it is the phenomenon in which the light passes through the surface it strikes.
2. only transparent substances support refraction.
3. angle of incidence n angle of refraction is the same.
4. when the light passes thr the substance, it slightly shifts its position towards or away from the angle of incidence within the surface due to variation of refractive index

✯ Reflection ✯

  • ➷ The bouncing back of light is called reflection.

  • ➷ It involves only a single medium.

  • ➷ After reflection, only change in direction takes place.

✯ Refraction ✯

  • ➷ The phenomenon of bending of light is called refraction.

  • ➷ It involves two or more than two media.

  • ➷ After refraction, changes in direction and velocity take place.
