Central Highlands
They are bound by Vindhya Range, Aravali mountains, and Chotanagpur Plateau. They have an eastward extension that is marked by the Chota Nagpur Plateau. And they lie to the north of Narmada, as they slope from the west to the east.
Deccan Plateaus
These plateaus slope from the southwest to the northwest. They are bounded by the Western ghats and Eastern ghats. Its eastern part is made of Kaimur Hills, Mahadev and Maikal Range. And they lie at the south of the Narmada River.
