Heya!!

-----------------------------

1) speed is a ratio of distance nd tym while velocity is a ratio of displacement nd tym.

2) speed is a scalar quantity while velocity is a vector one.

3) speed is measured as a overall journey (not particular direction) while velocity is a speed in a particular direction.

4) speed is always equal to or more than velocity.

Hope it helps uh!

Anonymous: is velocity always equal to or less than speed?
Anonymous: as distance is always equal to more than displacement (for a particular tym journey
Anonymous: thnx
AKASHDIPDAS: Velocity is obviously different than speed but if we are solving a numerical of kinetic energy suppose, then there must be include the term "velocity". But, in maximum books, theres included "speed". In that case speed = velocity

speed. 1)the time rate of covering the distance by an object is called its speed. 2) it is a scaler quantity. 3) its SI unit is ms-1. 4) its dimensional formulae is M zero L one T minus one. velocity:1). the time rate of change of displacement of an object is called its velocity. 2). it is a vector quantity. 3). its dimensional formulae is L one T minus one. hope this will help you.
