characteristics of chemisorption are:-
- high specificity :- chemisorption is high specific in macha it occurs only if there is possibility of bond formation between adsorbate and adsorbent molecule.
- irreversibility:- as chemisorption involved the compound formation between advertisement and actual weight it is generally irreversible.
- enthalpy of adsorption:- attractive forces between advertisement and adsorbent molecules are strong chemical bonds and therefore molar heat of adsorption is high and is of the order 200 to 400 kilo joule per mole.
- high activation energy:- Alto chemisorption is exothermic at the process is slow at low temperature it is because of high activation energy required for chemical process to occur.
- surface area:- chemisorption increases with increase in surface area of adsorbent.
- state of adsorbate :- since chemical reaction takes place in this type of adoption therefore the molecular state of adsorbent molecules may be altered.
- activation energy:- chemical adsorption involve a chemical reaction between element and attribute therefore it require high activation energy.
