$( x + 1 )^2 -( x )^2 = 79$

or, $x^2 + 1 +2x - x^2 = 79$

or, 2x + 1 = 79

or, 2x = 79 - 1

or, 2x = 78

or, x = $\frac{78}{2}$

or, x = 39

Thus one no. is 39 and other is (x + 1) which is 40

Now, $(40)^2-(39)^2=(1600-1521)=79$
