Tsunami waves are also known as tidal waves or strom waves.
A tsunami is caused by an undersea earthquake. Tsunami waves can be as high as 15 meters. And they travel at the speed of 800km/h in the sea. on 26 Dec 2004 an earthquake measuring 9.0 in richter scale hit of the coast of Indonesia. It triggered a massive tsunami that resulted in widespread death. There were 150000 deaths across about 11 cointries.
