The only way to make India a carefree and enjoyable place for women is by changing the mental attitudes of millions towardswomen.Women need to be treated equally and private as well as government organizations need to promote this.There should be equal pay and no discrimination among men and women for same amount of work . Although women have clung up the ladder of success, this boon has mostly touched upon the upper class and middle class whereas the women in lower class families as well as rural women are still dominated by the men and subject to orthodox practices as mughal rule converted India  into a  male chauvinist country. 

Government needs to promote equal status for women on a war footing basis.Police patrols should be increased in areas so that women feel  safe and can roam country without any fear of being stared at ,molested or discriminated against although the selection of policemen needs to be done carefully.Massive self defense training camps should be initiated so that it gives the much required self confidence  needed by women and makes them self reliant and gives them the ability to fight back molesters .

I think that enough time has passed since December 16 Gang rape and it's high time we take some steps to make India a liveable place for women .

Women in India, Today, becoming the most vulnerable section as far as the safety and security is concerned. When we turn the page of a newspaper, we come across many headlines supporting cases of molestation, harassment, tracking, ill-treatment of women in houses, violence against women in remote areas etc. Women feel unsafe and unsecure and feel that their freedom and liberty are jeopardised. It is unberable to imagine the plight of women who are sufferers of such crimes. It is a jolt on the confidence of the women, of society and on our judicial system.

We generally play the blame game for any such incidence and hence, have not succeeded to reach the root cause of this issue.An effective implementation of laws protecting women's rights is the first step in this direction. There should be Stringent laws and the perpetrators of such crimes should be severely punished. We also need to create Social awareness about this issue and ostracise those who commit such crime and not the victims. Better surveillance by law enforcing authority's is also required. The last but the most effective would be to compulsorily teach Self defence techniques to girls and women in schools, colleges, office and residential colonies. Only when these measures are taken, India can become a carefree and enjoyable place for women.
