The Role of Packaging

In the world we live in today, packaging is very important. The fact that everywhere you look, something is protected by some sort of packaging just shows us how much it is a part of our lives.

Packaging is used to protect a variety of different products, ranging from chocolate wrappers to boxes of hi-fi systems. You can find a wide range of shapes and sizes, all designed for different purposes. Packaging tends to be attractive for one sole reason, to appeal to the customers, interest them and entice them. In fact, you'll probably find that the more creative and attractive the packaging is, the greater the cost of the product. Now as with everything, packaging has its own benefits and drawbacks. I think I have mentioned most of the advantages, but what about the disadvantages? It's all very well the products being glamorous and attractive. However, there is so much spent on packaging phone to make them fancy, that's why when it comes to opening up the packaging, you find there isn't much to the product and feel disappointed. Another example would be with the crisps of nowadays. This is the scenario: you purchase a large sized multi-pack bag containing lots of smaller packets inside. Everything looks great! Only then, you open a small packet and find that it is half-empty or half-full, depending on the way you look at it. How would that make you feel? Would you feel as though you had been ripped off? Would you feel that disappointment yet again? Deodorants have a special design to them. Some are made to spray, some to roll on. At the end of the day, it is down to how the liquid is packaged. If we didn't have some sort of container for the liquid, how could we hold it and use it on us?
