Recent reports show that the crime rate against women have increased to 34% in the last four years. We live in a time where it has become difficult for a woman to go out for a walk or even come back home alone in peace.

It may also be considered that due too this increase in the crimes and the women not feeling safe at certain times, new inventions have come into place that will help in safeguarding herself against the big bad world.

The reason for these crimes remain unknown, as we see the women in this patriarchal world today, trying to walk side by side with the men and doing everything that a man would do and excelling in it.

In future, there might be a day where a woman is well-equipped to brave the world without of the fear of being endangered.

Answer:

Increasing crimes against women

The increasing crimes against women cannot be denied. The vast majority of crimes against women go unnoticed and unreported. There is no proper data on crimes against women and information on the subject are conflicting. The fear of social stigma and the uncertainty of getting justice are the main reasons why most of the crimes against women go unreported.

Crime against women have created a poor image of India among foreign countries. Millions of foreign tourists visit India every year and this tag of increasing crimes against women has directly affected the tourism industry. It is a matter of great shame that when our country is marching towards prosperity and advancement, the barbaric acts against women are on the rise.

Our fundamental duties under Article 51A of the Constitution also include the provision that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women. However, crimes against women are increasing.

1. Stringent measures need to be taken to curb this and safeguard women.

2. The government, the law enforcement agencies and the general public must unite to put an end to violence against women.

3. The Government must also pass and implement more strict laws than the existing ones for the safety of women.

4. The Government must form special police cells with women officers and other police personnel to receive reports about crime against women and take severe actions against the culprits.

5. More women need to be recruited into our police forces.

6. Our political leaders, irrespective of their party affiliations should show political will and conviction to deal severely with those guilty of crimes or acts of inhumanity against women.

7. Hearing and passing of verdict in courts for cases of against crimes against women must not be delayed.

Let us not forget that the greatness of a nation is known by the way it treats women.
