Youth can play an important role in national development. Man has done wonders in the field of science and technology this has affected common man's life immensely. Gadgets are the fashion of the day. No sphere of life is left untouched by gadgets. At the office, computers, and other advanced electronic equipment have made office life much easier. Students have a much easier way to access knowledge with the help of gadgets.

But the world's obsession with tech toys creates electronic waste which is also known as e-waste. Similarly, nanotechnology may offer greatly improved efficiency in almost every facet of life. But as a general purpose technology it will be used in two ways. It will have many commercial uses and it will also have many military uses which means more powerful weapons and tools of surveillance will be made. Thus there will be wonderful benefits for humanity, but also grave risks. . So it is in the hands of youth to use the latest technology in the right way.

Youth can play an important role in preserving the national heritage and rivers of India. For example in December 2014, a large number of youth in Delhi voluntarily took part in the Yamuna Shramdaan to clean the highly polluted river Yamuna which is the lifeline for 60 million people. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other organizations, in response to the call of the Prime Minister to volunteer for a Swacch Bharat or Clean India.

Besides this youth can help in creating awareness among people regarding the need to preserve our national heritage. They can write articles, give speeches, organize teams, stage skits and plays to show their importance and the need to save them. On weekends they can get together and clean the area surrounding the rivers. Make and put posters near the rivers requesting the people to keep them clean.
