REGIONALISM- A DANGER TO NATIONAL UNITY

Regionalism means love of people of a specific region towards their region. This love of people towards their region can be a great problem in national unity. If people of every region just think about their region then it won't be possible for the nation to unite as one. National unity is very important for a nation and citizens of the nation must be patriotic and dedicated towards the nation and not towards the regions within it. If regionalism prevails in a society then it won't take long for any outer powers to take over that country and rule it.

Answer:

Regionalism -a danger to national unity

India is made up of twenty nine states and seven union territories. Each state and union territory has its own peculiar language, culture, traditions, and ideology. When people living in these states and union territories love excessively only their own peculiar language, culture, traditions, and ideology, it becomes regionalism

When they focus more on their regional issues than the national issues it becomes regionalism. Many regional issues have become threat to national unity. A group of people representing the state raise demands that are against national interests. Issues such as terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, certain people demanding autonomous rule, naxalism, not accepting Hindi as the national language, objecting to the Central Government schemes, etc. are major challenges.

The Indian Government should nip these regional issues in the bud and instil nationalism in the minds of people living in all states and union territories.
