In above chemical reaction, CaCO3 is the carbonate which when decomposed forms CaO ( calcium oxide) and CO2 ( carbon dioxide).

CaO is lime.

We can also observe this reaction, if we blow air(CO2) into a glass of lime water(CaO), after sometime, the solution turns milky white, forming the white precipitate of calcium carbonate.
