Jahgir was born on September 9,1569,at Fatehpur,Sikri.He was fondly called shaikhu baba by Akbar. He was originally known as Salim and was educated in Persian, Turki and other various subjects like history, geography and art.
Salim ascendee the mughal throne at Agea Fort on November3,1605 at the age pf thirty six.After this accesion to the throne Salim took the title of Jahngir (holder of the world) and Nuruddin (light of the faith).He also rewarded his friends by give them high offices and tried to win people's heart.
