Biography Writing! Students interview their peers to make their very own fold-able Biography Booklet! They will practice the use of Text Features! A great Get-To-Know-You Project!
I used this project with my 6th graders after completing an expository writing unit. It would also work great as an assessment after a text feature unit! My students loved being able to work with a partner during the interview process. The class did a Biography Swap at the end of the unit in order to share their “published” work.
I taught a lesson on biographies and their text features. I used biographies from the library to show students what the front and back covers included, as well made my own “Biography Booklet” to show them what their finished product may look like.
I made the Interview Questions into a packet. Then I went over the Peer Biography Project Checklist and the Interview Questions. I also gave them ideas for the Create-Your-Own-Questions section.
