- The development of the two Singh Sabhas at Amritsar and Lahore during the 1870s was the start of the strict change development among the Sikhs.
- The setting up of Khalsa College in Amritsar in the year 1892 advanced Gurumukhi, Sikh learning, and Punjabi writing.
