Answer:

respiration is divided into two types:

aerobic-it is simply the respiration in which oxygen is necessary to break down molecules into simple inorganic substances.ex-breakdown of food

anaerobic-it is the types of respiration in which oxygen is not needed ,the cramps we get after vigrous excercise is considered to be anaerobic respiration.energy produced is less as compared to aerobic respiration.

Explanation:

Anaerobic respiration:

i. Respiration which takes place in the absence of oxygen is known as anaerobic respiration.

ii. In anaerobic respiration in microorganisms, glucose is broken down into ethanol and carbon dioxide with the release of energy. Lactic acid is the end-product of respiration in muscle cells, while CO2 and ethanol are formed in plants.

Aerobic respiration:

i. Respiration which takes place in the presence of oxygen is known as aerobic respiration.

ii. During this process, food (glucose) is broken down into carbon dioxide and water in the presence of oxygen.

iii. Energy release in this process is stored in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
