In India, fertile soils, formed by the deposits left by the rivers, are found in the northern plains and in the coastal plains. A black soil called regur is found in the north- western part of the Deccan Plateau. It has been formed by the weathering of basalt. Red soils rich in iron oxides and having low water holding capacity are found in the southern and eastern parts of peninsular India. Laterite soil are found in the Eastern and Western Ghats and in the parts of north-eastern India. These soils are reddish, as they contain Iron and aluminium oxides. Mountains soils occur in the mountainous regions, and desert soils are found in the arid regions lying mainly in Rajasthan.

Hey mate

Here is ur answer

Desert soils are downright unusual! They vary tremendously in texture; many are sandy and gravelly, while others contain layers of sticky clay, or even rock-hard, white limy layers. Desert soils may be gray-colored, brown, or even brick red. In the more arid parts of the Sonoran Desert, surfaces of some soils are covered by a layer of small stones that can be as tightly interlocked as pieces of an ancient Roman mosaic, and are coated with dark, shiny rock varnish. Many of these diverse features of desert soils have taken thousands of years or more to form. Characteristics of these soils also greatly affect, and are greatly affected by, desert organisms.
