A disease is the malfunctioning of the body organs due to one reason or the other. Diseases are broadly classified into communicable/infectious and non communicable/non infectious.

Examples for communicable diseases are tuberculosis, typhoid, jaundice, malaria, etc. Communicable diseases are caused by micro organisms like bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, etc.

Non communicable diseases are those which cannot spread from one person to the other. i.e., these diseases remain confined to the diseased person. These diseases are not due to any external infection. Examples for non communicable diseases are diabetes, arthritis, cancer, haemophilia etc.
