As India is a multilingual country, our constitution did not declare any particular language as the national language of India.
Hindi in Devnagari script was declared as the official language of India and 21 other languages were added as the scheduled languages, which can be used as official languages in various states as well.
Now more languages are added to this list of scheduled languages and all people are free to learn and practice their mother tongues. The government documents in the states are written in the respective state official languages.
