Citizen of Arcata, California created an integrated waste water treatment process within a natural system.

The cleaning of waste water is carried out in two steps-

1)First step includes Sedimentation, Filtering and Chlorine treatment.

2)In second ster, waste water is passed through a series of connected marshes. Appropriate plants, algae, fungi and bacteria wer seeded into the marshland. These neutralise, absorb and assimilate the pollutants.
