Iswaran was the servant of mahendra and  was a wonderful story teller.His gestures and expressions while telling a story could convince anyone. He was a good cook. He could arrange for vegetables and cooking items from nowhere just in hour.

He chatted with his master till late night.

He has a habit of exaggerating every little thing.

He followed his master without any questions and did all the household chores.

Iswaran was a simpleton with a mighty imagination. His adventurous stories would amuse and comfort Mahendra. But Iswaran, and his stories represent the blurred edges between fact and fiction. Iswaran loved to exaggerate and was as resourceful in his stories as he was in real life. The climactic ghost narrative which Iswaran entertains Mahendra with, leaves us wondering whether Iswaran's story were infact fiction in the first place. Thus iswaran, might not be a 'story-teller' after all.
