Shaeb-e-Alam was a resident of Seemapuri.
He was a rag-picker.
His family moved to India from Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1971 in an attempt to improve living conditions.
He roamed about collecting garbage from the streets every morning. He was also accompanied by many other boys. His family lived in a pitiful state.
He was unable to go to school. He could not even afford to wear slippers.
He had wishes. Like wanted to play tennis lawn but it was out of reach.
Later he found a job at a tea shop, where he earned every day and was given food as well.
But this did not make him happy. he felt that his rug bag was lighter than the steel canister he was given by the tea stall owner.
In comparison to Mukesh he lacks ambition and does not make any effort to improve his life.
