Grandmother was an old , wrinkled , short and fat lady. She was very religious as her lips always moved in audible prayers and she spent most of her time praying and telling the beads of rosary. She was very responsible as she took the responsibility of her grandson when his( grandson) parents where in city. She was very affectionate and caring as she looked after the author in the village. The grandmother was also very kind and generous as she fed dogs in the village with stale chapattis and sparrows in the city with breadcrumbs. She was concerned about the author as she asked him what he learned. She was also practical as she accepted the loneliness after shifting to city and even accepted grandson's decision to go abroad for higher studies . The author said that she was "an expanse of pure white serenity" as she was calm and she imbibed that peace and contentment in her appearance , personality and character.
