Chemical reaction showing displacement of one metal by another is given below:

            Zn + CuSO4 → ZnSO4 + Cu

In the above reaction, Zinc (Zn) is more reactive than copper (Cu) as it is placed above copper in the reactivity series. More reactive zinc metal displaces copper from the copper sulphate solution. Consequently, zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) is formed and copper is left. Such reactions are known as displacement reaction.
