Na is a common element in NaCl and NaNO3 , so we will find many identical physical properties in them , but one Chemical test can very much distinguish between NaCl and NaNO3 by spot test in test tube by use of AgNO3 solution.

Make a solution of NaCl in a test tube and add few drops of AgNO3 solution and you will find WHITE PRECIPITATES OF AgCl ,which can be described below:

NaCl + AgNO3 = NaNO3 + AgCl ( white ppts ).

Similarly make a solution of NaNO3 AND TAKE IN IN A TEST TUBE AND ADD FEW DROPS OF AgNO3 ,AND WE WILL NOT FIND ANY PRECIPITATES OR CHANGE IN COLOR OF THE MIX SOLUTION as no reaction taking place. I HOPE THIS ONE CHEMICAL TEST WILL DISTINGUISH between NaCl and NaNO3
