Bringing relief from sweltering heat, there was rain, accompanied by thunderstorm, in several parts of the city on Thursday evening. The rain, however, was no indication of the entry of monsoon in the State but was being attributed to the cumulonimbus clouds.

The city had been experiencing quite high temperatures over the last few days touching 42 degrees Celsius. The formation of rain clouds was primarily due to the rising temperature, said Raja Rao, Meteorologist, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

He said the thunderstorm and rain were likely for the next two to three days in all parts of Telangana, including Hyderabad and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
