There are three main types of motion:-

Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion.

Newton's second law of motion pertains to the behavior of objects for which all existing forces are not balanced. The second law states that the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.

Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.

Such an object is undergoing constant acceleration, since the slope of the graph is constant. The first equation of motion gives the final velocity after a time t for these objects, given an initial velocity v 0 v_0 v0.

Newton's second law of motion can be formally stated as follows: The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.

Just like rotary devices, you can find linear cylinders in electric, pneumatic or hydraulic options. They have driven the field of automation, manufacturing, robotics, and others into a new age because, in the past, rotary motion was the only means to create motion.
