The oxford clerk is a part of the tales collected in the "Canterbury tales".

Here it was described that the oxford clerk was were quietly seated like a newly wedded bride and the host urged him to be a little more careful.

He also requested the clerk to narrate some story as it was the rule of the game that all of them were in.

So the oxford clerk narrated a story about a person called Francis Petrarch.

So, this question is not actually about the poem called oxford clerk but it is about the tale that was told by the oxford clerk. It has briefly been described hence.
