Answer:

Rosagullas? Meh… I’ve never really liked them! “Chewy” is the word that always came to mind when I thought of Rosagullas… so, when everybody advised me to taste these when I got to Kolkata, I nodded my head half-heartedly.

Kolkata… “The city of joy”, an amazingly brave and independent lady of 47 that I made friends with, told me with a big smile.

Kolkata… The city of sweets; of Kachoris (what we in the south call Pooris) and pretty women with big eyes… Of cramped but colorful houses; of vertical buildings with no space but hosts wit endearingly warm hearts. The city of modern colours and vintage art combined, small but clean streets, fancy restaurants that don’t serve tea or coffee, to small shops that serve hot jalebis, spicy kachoris and heavenly teas at just Rs. 15.

It has always been my dream to visit this place and my excitement knew no bounds when my friend announced that he was getting married in Kolkata. There was about a week and a half left but I checked that my mid-term exams were getting over on time, and decided to go ahead and book my tickets along with one of my really close friends and her father. Post this, I got so involved with my exams that I found no time to even sleep, leave alone getting excited about the upcoming trip.

My exams ended on Friday and as it always happens while you start packing for a trip, my excitement levels shot up with every article of clothing I put inside the trolley.

I slept with a light heart and forgot completely about the exams I’d just written and whose results were clearly very distant! Waking up at 3 AM for a 6:10 AM flight, my friend and I made our way to the airport.
