Dear Diary:

Today I attended a wedding; I was shocked to see such an extravagant wastage of wealth! Thousands of people were wasting food. They were throwing half-eaten plates full of food into the bins. Thousands of lights were wastefully running.  I felt so sad to think of the contrast between the rich and the poor in our country. There are millions of people who live below poverty line. Our country is the country of paradoxes. On one hand the government has launched 'Save Power Campaign' and ‘Save Food Campaign’; on the other hand it is turning blind eye to the large scale wastage of food, electricity and fuel in the name of ostentatious weddings, parties, and other celebrations.  The government must make power consumption and food consumption regulation policy at marriage palaces and wedding resorts. People must also realize such wastage is an obstacle in the course of our country's progress.

We need to realise that there are so many people out there who barely manage a single meal a day.

The way food is eaten and wasted in weddings is an eye opener for everybody because extra food has been prepared to make sure everyone is well fed knowing the fact of their expected wastage. People like to taste everything as much as they can take. Most of us have seen that food get thrown in garbage not because it is stale but it is in excess of what has already been consumed and don't know what to do with that and this regularly happens at the end of marriage or any functions. Piles of dishes of excess food are thrown into the garbage bin even knowing that ghee, meat, sugar and vegetable are touching new records day by day. And still we see the kind of wastage of food in weddings.
