Against:- Firstly, having an after school job may result in the student having lesser number of hours to focus on schoolwork. Research shows that students who work more than 20 hours a week have lower grade averages than students who work 10 hours or less a week. Having an after school job or internship and then studying may leave the student with little time to sleep.
For:- it helps the student gain a crucial financial skill. This can be an opportunity for the student to learn how to effectively manage finances. After school jobs also give the student an insight of the futuristic jobs. A good job can the student a valuable insight into what he/she may want to do after high school. They may also discover what they enjoy working with, the job descriptions, the people or they might even be able to decide if they want to become an Entrepreneur. If nothing else, a part-time job gives students valuable work experience that they can list on future job applications. A job could also instil confidence and independence in students. If they work with customers, it can teach them how to handle difficult situations and improve their communication skills. An after-school job will also help students gain work skills—such as how to complete a job application, how to do well in an interview, and how to work for a supervisor.in addition, if students work at an after school job they are less likely to perform or engage in risky actions and behaviour. If students head straight from school to a job, it shortens the amount of free time they have to engage in risky behaviours. They will be less likely to be bored when a job keeps them busy.
