Answer:

Should Crackers Be Banned On Dewali?

Good morning everyone present. I am going to express my views on ‘Should Crackers Be Banned on Dewali?’ And I am going to speak in favor of the motion. I strongly feel the crackers should be banned completely.  As all of you know Diwali is just round the corner! Let’s celebrate this Diwali differently.

Our cities have already become polluted to the maximum. Let’s not pollute them anymore! Cannot we celebrate Diwali without crackers? Is it compulsory to fill our already polluted environment with more poison? Are we wise in doing so? Why do we precipitate the process of our own fall and sufferings? Bursting fire crackers has only disadvantages! Wastage of money, poisonous smoke, unbearable noise, fire accidents, garbage, litter, etc.! And still we want to burst them!

Crackers often contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminium and barium to produce the vibrant colours once ignited. The harmful gases produced from the bursting of crackers, such as Nitrous Oxide, remains in the air until the rain or strong winds reduce the pollution. Inhaling the fumes emitted by firecrackers adversely affects men and women’s health. It will cause fatal diseases such as cancer, diseases of lungs, asthma, etc.

Let’s join hands to say no to crackers this Diwali. Let’s not poison the air our children breathe. We have the responsibility of bequeathing a cleaner and healthier future. If we won’t ensure their safety and happiness, who else will?

Debate on "Advantage and disadvantage of ban on crackers".

Explanation:

India is a colorful nation with various festivals celebrated by its secular people. One such festival is the festival of lights, Diwali where people light diyas and candles and lighten their homes for the goddess to enter in their homes and bless it. The people also spend thousands on crackers and fireworks to celebrate this festival. Aside from this, many other festivals also require these bursting of crackers. So, it can be safely said that Indian festivals also depend on the crackers and fireworks.

The advantages of this practice is that it gives a sense of tradition to such festivals. It also encourages the manufacturers and sellers, giving them a huge surge in their profits at such times of the year. It enables them to earn more than they normally do, even if it's just a couple of times in a year. It also brings families close and happiness, when they all enjoy the festival and light them together.

But, if there is a ban on the sale and production and use of such items, it will be like removing the significant aspect of these festivals. The level of enjoyment may not be the same for the people, who throughout generations, have practiced the age old traditions. It also led to the wastage of unnecessary expenditure on buying these fireworks, only to be over in one night. Moreover, it also leads to major health issues, polluting the air and heavily affecting not only humans but even plants and animals.
