Yes, earth's sustainability is a myth:
1. Participation- When we talk of the earth, we need to consider all nations. Unfortunately, all nations will not or cannot contribute towards sustainability. Some nations have dictatorial heads, who do not collaborate with other nations. Other nations are too involved in solving internal issues of conflicts to think about sustainability. So, everyone will not be interested in it.
2. Resources- Sustainability is a long term goal, which cannot be achieved overnight. It requires a lot of planning and funding. So much manpower and finances might not be available.
3. Resistance to change- Most of us are not very willing to change. Sustainability requires major lifestyle changes, which may sound very difficult to adapt.
4. Spreading awareness- With a considerable percentage of the global population battling problems like poverty and terrorism, it is not possible to expect them to understand and follow sustainable practices. To them food and security are the only things that really matter.
Till the time at least 90% of the world population does not work towards sustainability, the dream will continue to remain a myth and a dream.
