Explanation:

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a sense of uncertainty in all spheres of our lives. However, while adults may still be able to strike a balance,  or reason with themselves on why they cannot, teenagers, perhaps, can have a hard time struggling with what the pandemic has brought upon them. Competitive, school, and college exams, and the job crisis that people are now faced with can really aggravate their stress. This can also lead to the use of substances such as cigarettes and alcohol, something not meant for their age, and can have serious physical and mental health implications.

According to the National Institute of health 1 in 3 of all adolescents experience an anxiety disorder. The numbers are rising steadily. Anxiety disorder in teens and adolescent has risen up to 20 per cent. Higher expectations and pressure to succeed, exposure to social media, in these times of COVID getting extremely worried about their future etc are the most common reasons for the rising levels of anxiety disorders. That makes it very important for us to teach our teenagers to be able to identify their state of anxiety and be able to self intervene from time to time, says Dr Himani Khanna, Developmental Pediatrician & Co-Founder of Continua Kids.
