For the motion :-
____________________________________________________________
In the present world of cut-throat competition, nobody has time to judge one on his/her talents. What institutes and jobs require is knowledge and skills.
Extra-curricular activities usually engage students so much that they forget to balance it with academics. Wastage of time and resource diverts their mind from their main goal.
In the long run, certificates and medals don't matter much because in the present day scenario, everybody is judged on his level of intellect and wisdom in interviews.
There is no obvious logic in having super talented individuals, instead society should lean itself towards making specialized individuals in their selected fields. Most modern careers require expert knowledge and skills, which can take years to acquire.
Giving a greater place in education to the co-curriculum means that many more clubs and activities will have to be organized for students. This will be very expensive as it will require more staff and more resources to be paid for.
____________________________________________________________
Against the motion :-
If a list of priorities is prepared by a student, nothing could be better than a skilled as well as an educated kid
Various aspects if taken into consideration won't hamper a student such as getting the right answers to how many hours one needs to study, is it possible to attend classes during the process of preparation, how much do the other activities really matter.
Co-curricular activities prepare students practically for the future. The overall personality development occurs only with students' equal footing in all the spheres of life.
Students whose only experience of school or college is one of rigid academic study may not be able to apply what they have learned in practice. If the co-curriculum was given an equal importance in the student's everyday schedule, it would lead to improvement in the student ability to grasp things as a whole, because students will have received a more rounded education.
